Your Sound Machine Review Authority
Timex TM-80 MP3 Alarm Clock

First Impressions
We need to throw in an apology here; we will try to hide our excitement over this new arrival to the sound
machine market and give you an unbiased review.  It will be unbiased, but that does not mean we can’t be
giddy about this feature packed unit!

The TM80 is one handsome unit.  No odd shapes or confusing buttons.  It doesn’t try to appeal to any one
generation or gender.  The looks tell you that it’s all about the business of sleeping and waking.  It already
comes with batteries too!

SD Card/Jump Drive
The TM80 has pulled up alongside today’s technology and adapted it to sleep.  For the sound machine
aficionado you’ll be in heaven.  With the SD card slot you can take your favorite MP3 sounds, put them on
an SD card and listen to more than 12 hours of uninterrupted sound on a 1 gigabyte SD card.  Let’s say you
love your white noise CD you have, but hate that it has to repeat every 70 minutes or so.  All you have to do
is rip that CD to MP3, join the segments together using a free audio software such as
Audacity, move it to
your SD card and you’re in business!

The USB port for your jump drive works just the same, but be careful.  Like other units we have seen with a
USB port, your sound will only play for 99 minutes and 59 seconds.  We recommend using the SC card for
your white noise (or other sleeping sound) and the jump (flash) drive for songs.  There is also a connection
on the back for youriPod/MP3 player!  It won't charge your iPod though.

Clock
This unit has a self setting clock.  Not an atomic clock, just self setting.  It has dual alarms and each
person can choose what sound they want to wake to.  The clock face can be dimmed.  It’s nice and big too.

Other Cool Stuff
•        Full function remote that also has a snooze control on it
•        Will also play WMA files
•        MP3 player line-in jack
•        Equalizer with four settings (flat, rock, jazz, pop and classic)
•        Battery backup that will sound the alarm at wake up time even if the power is still out
•        AM/FM Radio with pre-sets

Sound
Like mentioned before, you provide your own sleep sounds if you wish.  The sound quality on this unit is
the best we have heard.  One of our testers, a long time
white noise sleeper, has refused to give it back
and at the time of this writing and has taken it with her while traveling out of town.  She has offered to pay
us for it though.  She says it’s simply the best product on the market.

Verdict
At $79.99 retail, this is no cheap sound machine, but we believe it is worth every penny.  Timex quality
shows through.  If you’re a beginner
white noise sleeper, go ahead and try out a less expensive model, but
when your ready to graduate up, look no further than the Timex TM80.
