Munchkin Crib Light Sound Machine
A baby shower is a nice time to show the mother-to-be how much you care about her and her soon-to-be
child. Sound machines for infants have been around for years, and they keep on coming. The Munchkin Crib
Light Womb Sound Machine is a new arrival to the market. It claims to have voice activation, color, wound
sound, or a combination of the two.
First Impression
We like the size, not too big. The straps will allow for various configurations to attach it to a crib. The battery
compartment is sealed with a Phillips screw so the 1 week old won’t open the compartment and eat the 4 AA
batteries.

We moved the switch to sound only and found the unit shut off. We had to push the start button again. The
slide switches are cheap will poor definition of any ‘click into place’ feel. We wonder how long they will last.

adult cough from 20 feet away. We just question the idea that an infant will be rewarded by crying with a
sound and/or light show. You can turn this feature off though. The only sound is ‘womb’, there are no other

choices.
The real problem is this; the unit shuts off after 10 minutes! Now I know of some infants that will fall asleep
that fast, but I have a daughter and as an infant, she did not. You can select the voice activation feature, but
again, why reward the infant for crying?
Dimensions
The Munchkin is 6.25” x 5” x 2.185” at the thickest part. It weighs just 9 oz without batteries.
Verdict
This is a cheap gift as retail is $12.95. The light show was the only wow factor of the unit. It will not run
continuously, it has low volume, only one sound, only uses batteries and has cheap switches. We
recommend paying a little more and getting a plug in sound machine that can be placed across the room.
Many units have womb and a combination of other sounds. These units will aid in blocking out noise and
give the parents plenty of sound choices and more versatility.
